Phone message

So I finally bit the bullet and listened to the phone messages that have collected on my phone over the last few days. Because my 'stalker' was message 1.

"So I'm beginning to think you don't love me anymore..."

WHAT?

Because I fell deeply, madly in love with him over the course of one date but just don't know what I want and am denying myself of his company... Seriously, I'm about ready to call him and verbally cut him off at the kneecaps.

OMG

I just watched Paula Deen batter and deep fry an ice cream sandwich, drizzle it with chocolate sauce, squirt homemade whipped cream on top and put sprinkles and a cherry on top.

I love Paula Deen. Only she can make a dish that starts with equal parts butter and mayonaise.

BTW

My 'stalker' called again on Wednesday. I knew he would. He spends his weekends with his sister in the OC and with traffic the way it was on Wednesday, I knew he would call because he would be stuck in traffic and wanted to chat with someone. I mean, I know I'm cute and all but catch a hint...

P.S. Since I didn't want him to touch me and got really pissed at him when he kissed me on the cheek after I told him he was only getting a hug: He told Jess, "I don't understand what happened. Usually women are all over me and can't keep their hands off of me."

Gag me, arrogant bastard.

A Man Walks into a Bar...

Although I adore standup comics, it is a career I could never have. I just don't have the timing and I don't think that quickly on my feet (BTW, this has nothing to do with the whole 'Kramer' and Laugh Factory thing).

I have recently read the book He's Just Not That Into You. In the book, the male author talks about about how he asked a female bartender for her number and she responded by telling him that she stopped giving it out because guys stopped calling her. She did tell him she was in the phone book and that he could look her up. Which he did and got a date.

Any way, that is just the set up to the one joke that I would have as a stand up comic. And I've kinda realized that this is a really long set up for what isn't THAT funny of a joke. At any rate, I was thinking...

"yeah, dating in LA is really hard. There are so many games that people play, so many power trips. And I have to admit, I use to play hard to get. Yeah, if a guy asked me for my number, I'd tell him I was in the phone book and he should look me up. Then I'd tell him my last name was Smith. Or Jones. Yeah, that was a lot of fun back in the day..."

I think it's funnier in my head but like I said, I don't really have good comedic timing.

Thank you folks, I'll be here all night.

8itch fest

I really am cranky about my women's studies class. We have this one day 'international' film festival on December 1 and we are suppose to be promoting it. Nothing like waiting until the last moment. Thanks Prof! Oh but the last straw for me? Monday, during our online exam, she emails us a list of names and selects ten for each one of us to call and tell them about the festival.

When the hell am I suppose to do that? Like anyone is around this close to Thanksgiving. I'm really pissed. Especially since this affects my grade. I already have a bunch of stuff on my plate for this festival and yes, because this is sooooo last minute, I missed the deadline for one of the local papers, their next edition won't be out until Dec 4. Who the hell plans a one day festival the week after Thanksgiving?

bitter bitter bitter

15 minutes later
okay, so my phone phobia is kicking in too. I know, I need to just get over it and call.

Home Stretch

School ends with Finals week December 18. I don't know if I mentioned it before but I have all three of my finals on one day. Whoops...

I was looking at everything that I need to get done in the next few weeks and here is what I have left to do, Three papers, one art project and two tests. One thing at a time I guess.

In other news, I got my second test back in Rhetorical Theory and because of the curve (score+5x3), I got an A. If I can do well on the paper and the final, I just might be able to pull off a low A. Hey, an A is an A is an A.

I just have to concentrate on not dropping the ball or even better, stepping all my studying and writing habits up a notch. Wish me luck!

Ow ow OW!

Today I had the 6 month follow up appointment for my right eye. Yes, believe it or not, it has been 6 months since I got my vision fixed. I cannot believe it.

The ouch comes from the fact that I had loosened three out of the four stitches in my left eye and the doc removed them for me. My eye is swollen, itchy and a little red. But the doc said to use wetting drops over the next couple of days and I will be fine.

In other news, I did a google image search using the name of the lens I have implanted and I found a picture. This is what I have in both eyes.

This is obviously a computer mock up but you get the point. The other more realistic picture was in progress during a surgery and it was gross....

Science is so frickin' cool.

Today is...

I have several thought running through my small mind today so bear with me.

Today is hump day.
(That's a humpback Whale people) Tomorrow, my boss and half the office will be in Hawaii for the rest of the week at a conference. Thank goodness I have plenty of homework to do the 6 hours I will be at work with no boss to give me work to do. Ah the life of the student.

Today a band played in the plaza at the Student Union. They were pretty good, a trio and my kind of music (Hey, I can hear the cracks you are thinking about my taste in music. No comments from the
gallery) I was going to snap a picture and blog about them but they refused to play Happy Birthday to the guy running the sound board. Bad Sports. How are they going to act if they actually get a record deal?

And today is national "America Recycles Day".

Didn't know that either, huh? In honor of National Recycling Day, I am going to recycle a blog idea from my cousin Jefferson. (Okay, it is more like blatently stealing but go with it people)

Soundtrack of my life

So, here's how it works:

1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every question, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool

Opening Credits:Need you tonight/ INXS

Waking Up: After the Rain Has Fallen/ Sting

First Day At School: Martha's Foolish Ginger/Tori Amos

Falling In Love: Clean/ Incubus

Fight Song: Sleeps With Butterflies/Tori Amos

Breaking Up: The Power of Orange Knickers/Tori Amos

Prom: Precious Things/ToriAmos

Life: Don't Stand So Close to Me '86/The Police

Mental breakdown:Dirty Harry/Gorillaz

Driving: Sweet the Sting/Tori Amos

Flashback: Amazing/George Michael

Getting back together: Goodbye Pieces/Tori Amos

Wedding: Message in a Bottle/The police

Birth of Child: Here with Me/Dido

Final Battle: Strange Little Girl/Tori Amos

Death Scene: Come Original/311

Funeral Song: Is you is, or is you ain't my baby/Dinah Washington

End Credits: The Strangest Thing/George Michael

Okay, mine isn't nearly as cool as Jefferson's but then again I am not nearly as interesting as Jefferson. Check out his soundtrack here.

And seeing how many times Tori Amos popped up really motivated me to load more music into my Macbook Pro. Really, it is simply a matter of not having more of my music in iTunes when I hit Party Shuffle. Which gives you the perfect number of songs for this game if you still have the default setting on Party Shuffle in iTunes.

Go on, try it....

I think I will be obsessed with this post now and recycle it many times. Fair Warning.

My 'stalker' called again tonight.

Dude, I said no to the second date. Catch a clue, I'm not interested in you.

And this would be why I date about every four years.

Yummy!

Last night, I went out to dinner at Delmonico's Lobster House.

My fellow grad student and really cool chick JW's parents were in town from Texas and she invited me and DS (another fellow grad) out to meet them. I am sure you are thinking what I thought, "What the heck can I, a vegetarian and a person allergic to shellfish, eat at a lobster place?"

OMG - I had an amazing romaine salad with gargonzola, candied walnuts and a honey mustard dressing. It was good but dessert? Oh dessert was out of this world. JW and I shared a fresh apple tart with cinnamon ice cream and caramel sauce. So good. If I ever have an event where the people I am with want to go somewhere for dessert afterwards, I am going to lobby hard for Delmonico's. I had dreams last nght about that dessert. In fact, I am getting really hungry thinking about it. Yummy. Course, we will have to bring our platinum credit cards to eat there but so worth it.

Another reason to love my new job

The university is closed on Veteran's Day.

So I will be relaxing and taking it easy.

Or doing homework, one of the two.

So to all those veteran's out there,

thanks!

Nobody Likes Me..

Everybody hates me,
Guess I'll eat some

So I am sitting by the computer checking my email every few minutes like some teenage girl waiting for the phone to ring and waiting to see if more that two people can make it to this month's potluck. I know that we are all busy adults with multiple activities that fill our lives but.... Man, this is only a once a month event.

Just Sayin'.

Dewd

RING RING

I can't believe it's 6:30 already. At least it's Saturday and I can go back to sleep.

Rolls over to go back to sleep.

Wait, if it's Saturday, why did I forget to turn my alarm off?

What day is it?

"Crap, it's Tuesday..."

Yes, that is how my day began. I have never claimed to be the swiftest bulb in the morning but this was just pathetic. So of course I had to tell my friends.

Saturday

I had a project for my women's studies class that required me to follow someone around for a day and photograph them. I chose one of my favorite little people on the face of the earth, James. We had a blast, even when he got a little wild in the afternoon and decided he needed to sit on top of me. Eh, he's 3 1/2, not that heavy.

At any rate, although I am not much of a photographer, here is the best picture out of the two rolls.

Aren't these two of the most beautiful boys you have ever seen? Maybe I'm prejudice but what angels, James and 9 month old brother Thomas.

oh happy day...

Good Day

I've been a little whiney in my blog lately. Honestly though, I've had several good days. There has been a lot that I have enjoyed about my life lately.

I recently rediscovered the joy that is celery, greatly in part because of Meesh.

The fresh green crunchiness, the health of it all, the portability. Sometimes with a little peanut butter, sometimes some hummus. I love celery. It is just sometimes hard to get good celery. More often than not, the celery stays too long in the fridge and gets limp. And there is not much worse than limp celery...

I hope you all have a good day too.

Hmm

Do you ever have that nagging feeling that there is something you need to attend to but don't know what it is?

It's almost 11 and I have my long day at work tomorrow and I can't fall asleep. There is something bothering me but I can't quite put my finger on it. I know what I have to do tomorrow but still...

I got a lot done tonight. Not everything on my list and lord knows there was plenty that I needed to do that didn't get on the list. Maybe it is just hitting me how much work I need to do before the semester ends. I'm enjoying it all, everything just seems to take a little longer than I thought it would and there is never enough time.

Bonus: tonight I got to talk to JI on the phone while IM'ing with T3 and HV. Lots of fun.
