Rejection (4)

Dear M_____,

Thank you for your application for admission to graduate study in the Ph.D. Program in Culture and Theory. After extensive review by our admissions review committee, I must regretfully notify you that your application for admission to the program has not been accepted.

Due to the depth, strength and sheer number of applications we received, our admissions committee must be highly selective in making recommendations. It is not possible to accept all excellent applicants who might thrive in the Culture and Theory program, especially since we are not able to accept more than a very few candidates each year. Your academic preparation and scholarship, letters of recommendation, expressed interests and objectives, writing sample, and other supporting materials have all been taken into consideration during the committee's review process.

Although we are unable to act favorably upon your application, we appreciate your interest in the Culture and Theory program and hope you will be able to take advantage of other opportunities to continue your program.

Sincerely,

Glen Mimura
Director, Pd.D. Program in Culture and Theory

I only need one yes. It is amazing all the different ways people can tell you no.
